What's new for the 2011 Lincoln MKZ
For 2011, the LINCOLN MKZ will be available for the first time as a hybrid, and the first hybrid for the Lincoln nameplate. As for the non-hybrid 2011 LINCOLN MKZ, which was completely redesigned for 2010, there are no major changes for 2011.
Model Highlights
The LINCOLN MKZ comes in a simple trim lineup for 2011. Gasoline and hybrid/electric powertrains are available, and the gasoline-powered LINCOLN MKZ is available in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations.
The 3.5L V6 engine that comes in the base trim produces 263 horsepower and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift, which allows for a manual control over the shifting. Many drivers love the sportier feel and performance increase this can offer.
The biggest new feature for the 2011 LINCOLN MKZ is the implementation of parent company Ford's highly praised hybrid drivetrain. The system utilizes a 2.5L Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine and twin electric motors to produce a combined 191 horsepower. Connecting it to the front wheels is an advanced continuously variable transmission. Estimated mileage for the LINCOLN MKZ hybrid is among some of the best available, with a rating of 41 mpg in the city and 36 mpg highway.
All LINCOLN MKZ models come with leather 10-way power heated and cooled seats, a rear parking assist system, steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls and heated mirrors. Lincoln's innovative SYNC voice-activated communications and entertainment system is standard as well, so is satellite radio and dual-zone climate control.
Lincoln's Personal Safety System is standard, and includes anti-lock brakes, a full array of airbags, AdvanceTrac traction control and automatic headlights. Lincoln's Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert (CTA), a system that utilizes sensors to warn the driver of hidden traffic dangers, is optional, as is a rear-view camera.
Options for 2011 include a voice-activated navigation system, adaptive HID headlamps, a moonroof and a THX 5.1 audio system. A Sport Appearance Package that includes sport-tuned suspension, aluminum trim and 18-inch polished aluminum wheels is a $1,300 add-on. The Executive package, adds luxury items that include upgraded leather seating, interior wood trim and premium floor mats trimmed in suede.
