The 2018 Nissan GT-R receives a new lower priced "Pure" trim model and Apple CarPlay as standard equipment across the board. A new Kuro Night trim color option is available for the Premium Interior Package.
The 2018 Nissan GT-R is offered in Pure, Premium, Track Edition and a NISMO version. The Pure, Premium and Track Edition are powered by a 3.8L twin-turbocharged V6, which makes 545 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque. The NISMO uses the same V6, though it is tuned to produce 600 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque. In all models, power is put to all four wheels with a performance-oriented all-wheel-drive system and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission handles the shifting. When desired, full sequential manual shifting can be controlled by the steering wheel mounted shift paddles.
With the GT-R's 545 horsepower, the dash to 60 mph takes just under three seconds, and top speed is a claimed 200 mph. Brakes are strong enough for secure stops from triple-digit speeds, and handling is enhanced by the variable-power-split all-wheel drive system. The ride is stiff, owing to this car's prioritization of performance above all else. The NISMO features an even more track-oriented suspension set up, which complements the car's additional aerodynamic aids, including a unique rear spoiler.
Inside, the GT-R feels snug, with a strong cockpit design. The driver sits low in rather narrow, well-bolstered sport seats, with a wide center console alongside. Steering wheel paddle shifters can command quick shifts, while center-stack controls are canted slightly toward the driver.
The GT-R Premium has a very extensive list of features including 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels, power-heated front seats, leather-suede-trimmed seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, full power accessories, an Intelligent Key entry and ignition system, LED headlights, LED taillights, dual-zone climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and carbon-fiber and aluminum interior trim. An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, XM NavTraffic, NavWeather and Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity are all included. Also included is a Bose sound system with 11 speakers, two subwoofers, active noise cancelling, Bluetooth streaming audio and XM satellite radio.
The GT-R Track Edition includes everything in the Premium, plus a NISMO tuned suspension, NISMO black 20-inch wheels, carbon-fiber rear spoiler and black and red Recaro leather front seats.
The limited availability GT-R NISMO adds to the Track Edition with the NISMO tuned 600 horsepower engine, NISMO tuned suspension, a NISMO aerodynamic body design, carbon-fiber front and rear fascia, carbon fiber rear spoiler, NISMO Recaro seats with suede inserts, wider NISMO super-black wheels, NISMO Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and NISMO black/red interior treatment.
There are few major options on the GT-R. A Cold Weather Package adds Dunlop run-flat tires and a special coolant mix. A Premium Interior Package adds hand-stitched Semi-Aniline leather front seats and interior treatment.
Safety features of the GT-R include Nissan Advanced Air Bag System, stability and traction control, front and rear sonar system, antilock brakes and a rearview camera. Additionally, the body is constructed with front and rear crumple zones, as well as an energy-absorbing steering column.
